Job opportunity: SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Our client, a substantial contributor in the Agricultural sector, and an equal opportunity employer has a vacancy for an on-farm SENIOR ACCOUNTANT situated on the banks of the Orange River.

You possess the following knowledge / abilities / skills

Grade 12 + Degree / Diploma, a love for farming, nature, and five years’ experience as a financial accountant or auditing field (preferred industry experience in manufacturing, food processing or fishing industry). You have excellent knowledge of the Companies Act, Income Tax laws, GAAP, Social Security Act, Labour Act, auditing principles and good governance principles. You must be computer literate on an advanced level (MS – Office and Sage Evolution). You possess exceptional verbal and numeric cognitive abilities and you are able to solve complex problems. You are methodical, detail – conscious and able to generate substantially thought through ideas. You are ethical and possess a high level of integrity. You are a team player. You are goal orientated and able to set priorities. Communicating formally and informally comes naturally to you. You have excellent planning, and organisational skills and deliver on results in time. You are resilient to work under pressure and you are adaptable to change. As part of the position, you may be required to travel from time to time and work overtime. You possess a driver’s license and a Namibian citizenship (or permanent residence).

You wish to execute the following responsibilities

You shall support various departments and operations with planning, reporting and analysis. You will manage orders, purchase requests and imports. You will conduct expense analysis and prepare management accounts. Part of the work will be supplier reconciliations, collation and submission of VAT, PAYE and other tax schedules. You will play an instrumental part in budget preparations and financial controlling. You will manage fixed asset registers, conduct ledger management and assist with insurance and claims. Balance sheet reconciliations, stock and inventory management and bank processing and reconciliations are part of your core duties.
